Bible teaching on forgiveness: Foster love through forgiveness

Healing yourself through forgiveness

Forgiveness isn’t easy. Yet holding onto grudges would mean not letting go of the resentment, which could weigh you down. As a result, when you hold a grudge, you inadvertently forge a bond with whomever you resent—even when you want to stay as far away from that person. Since holding onto resentment affects you adversely and even stops you from going ahead in life, you need to learn from the Bible teaching on forgiveness to let go of the burden that weighs you down, flow with the current of life, and rise to your potential.

Forgiveness is the key to living life to the fullest. The true definition of forgiveness means to give forth. This means forgiveness has little to do with the conventional idea of letting someone off the hook or repentance for an apparent crime or sin. Many think forgiving is for someone else, but in reality it’s for the one who forgives. By doing so, that person gives forth and breaks the shackles of pain, hurt, resentment, and any other negative feeling that might trigger hardships in life. Even Bible verses on forgiveness encourage people to forgive others. Some of the holy scriptures also say forgiving doesn’t mean that what those sinners did was ok, but it’s about leaving them to God. The essence of forgiveness is to let go of the pain and bitterness, which, if not done, could poison the soul. Some scriptures that encourage and inspire one to forgive include Colossians 3:13, Ephesians 4:32, Matthew 18:21-22, and Luke 17:3-4—just to name a few.
